London Marathon Club Place

The draw for the clubs London Marathon place will take place at the next committee meeting on 3rd December. Priority is given to senior LAC members who haven’t previously had a club place and can provide evidence that they were unsuccessful in this years ballot. All other LAC runners are welcome to express an interest in case no one meets the above. Please inform Sue Murfin or another committee member if you want your name putting in the draw.



Louth AC members took part in 2 cross country races recently. The second of the Lincolnshire Runner Cross Country League at Castle Dyke Equestrian Centre near Boston on Sunday 28th October 2018 and the popular Scunthorpe Open Cross Country event was held on 11th November 2018, with the first race starting after a Remembrance Sunday 2 minute silence observed.

Lincolnshire Runner Cross Country League Match 2 – 28 October 2018

Some solid individual and team performances continued from Match 1 with 15 members. The performance of the day came from Jayden Daniels with his excellent first place in the Under 17 Men with an exciting finish in 23 min 30 secs.

Marla Bell Under 11 Girls – 3rd Place in 6 min 59 secs.

Under 15 Girls – Winning team. Evie Brooks 2nd 14 min 19 secs, Freya Plaskitt 3rd 14 min 32 secs and Kandi Austin 9th 17 min 50 secs.

Under 20/Senior/Veteran Women. The teams are currently in 2nd and 6th place out of 14 teams.  ‘A’ Team. Kerry Stainton 6th 28 min 12 secs, Carlissa Daniels 14th 30 min 40 secs and Amanda Daniels 16th 31 min 24 secs.  ‘B’ Team. Jane Cope 32nd         33 min 52 secs, Rosalind Jackson 35th 34 min 24 secs and Karen moulding 38th  37 min 19 secs.

Under 13 Boys – Declan Templeton 3rd place 10 min 23 secs.

Under 20/Senior/Veteran Men. 29th Kevin Wallis 43 min 23 secs, 54th Phil Jackson 49 min 40 secs and 59th Eddie Enright 51 min 23 secs.

Scunthorpe Open Cross Country – 11 November 2018.

It’s a family affair for the Daniels with 3 members competing and achieving great results! Jayden placed 3rd in the Under 17 Men and Carlissa (Junior) and Amanda (Veteran) (Mum) part of the Runners-Up Ladies Team.

Marla Bell Under 11 Girls 2000m race had an excellent race finishing comfortably in 3rd place in 9 min 04 secs.  There were 18 runners

Under 15 Girls 4000m. Winning Team. Evie Brooks 2nd 18 min 02 secs, Freya Plaskitt 3rd 18 min 07 secs and Matilda Mossop 8th 21 min 28 secs.

Under 17 Men 6400m. A fantastic 3rd place for Jayden Daniels in 27 min 54 secs.

Junior/Senior/Vet Ladies 6400m. 2nd Place Team.  Kerry Stainton 3rd (2nd Vet)  31 min 12 secs, Carlissa Daniels 11th (2nd Junior) 33 min 05 secs and Amanda Daniels 23rd 36 min 57 secs.  Karen Moulding was 34th in 40 mins 41 secs.  There were 36 runners.

Louth Athletic Club celebrated the Club’s achievements during the athletic year (2017/2018) and loyalty of its athletes at its Annual Presentation night held at the Pavilion, London Road in Louth. Club members, family and friends attended.  Trophies, Shields, medals and certificates were awarded to athletes for the Club’s Track and Field Records, Amateur Athletic Association Standard Award, Mayor’s Trophy Wolds Dash, Medals for athletes who competed in minimum of 2 matches in the Lincolnshire Runner Cross Country, minimum 3 at the Youth Development League (Lower age group) and minimum 2 at (Higher age Group), Sportshall Award and the main presentation of Awards for best performances, most improved, best newcomers and endeavour trophy.

The Chairman, Sue Murfin, welcomed everyone to the Presentation night and the trophies and awards were presented by Kerry Stainton and Karen Moulding.

  Lincolnshire Runner Cross Country League 2018/19                                                    

Match 1   Ostlers Plantation, Woodhall Spa 07/10/2018 

There was a good turn out by competitors and supporters on the 1st of the 4 Lincolnshire Runner Cross Country League, with 234 competitors from 20 clubs.    Louth AC had 18 members competing.  The weather was perfect conditions for racing – a beautiful sunny day and a course that was reasonably flat and fast comprising woodland tracks and light sandy soil.






A brilliant result for the Under 15 Girls Team – 1st place with 12 points.

The Senior Women ‘A’ team are currently in 3rd place and ‘B’ team 9th place.  The top 3 teams are close on points – Lincoln & District Runners 37, Sleaford Town Runners 39 and Louth ‘A’ 43 points.

Having secured KEVIGS for winter training we are now looking for coaches from the end of September for Gordon Reid’s Middle Distance group & AJ’s position with the Sprint group for 2 months as he is undertaking a college course for work. Please contact Sue Murfin if you are able to help even if that’s only for 1 Tuesday a month, details above or via Chairperson link on the website.

Parent helpers are also required for training sessions in September to support coaches of all training groups Thanks to those of you who have already come forward & helped.

Louth AC Report W/E 30 September 2018

The Annual charitable race Tennyson 8 held on Sunday 30th September 2018 is a scenic multi terrain route in the Lincolnshire Wolds starting and finishing in Hagworthingham which attracted 138 runners – 114 for 8 mile and 24 for 5.5 mile.    The run proceeds will go to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Improving lives curing type 1 diabetes.  There were 17 Louth AC members taking part with both races starting at the same time and the weather was ideal running conditions.

Tennyson 5.5 mile

4 members ran the shorter race; 3rd female  Victoria Cass  (Vet 35) 51.48, 6th female Karen Moulding (Vet 55) 56.54,  3rd male Hugh Pinder (Vet 50) 58.57 and 5th male Ken Jackson (Vet 70) 62.20.

Tennyson 8 mile

There was a good turn out by Louth AC in the longer race with 13 members. The ladies had a brilliant day achieving 3 top awards:  Kerry Stainton, Ruth Edison and Trudy Roberts taking the 1st female team prize.  Kerry Stainton 2nd female and Shirley Willett 1st female Veteran 50 age category.


First member home was Paul Snowden (Vet 45) 18th 56.21.  Followed by Kevin Wallis (Vet 55) 21st 57.10, Austin Smith (Vet 40) 24th 58.15, Kerry Stainton (Vet 45) 32nd 60.10, Pete Crow (Vet 55) 39th 62.32, Ruth Edison (Vet 45) 47th 63.53, Edward Enright (Vet 60) 50th 65.53, Trudy Roberts (Vet 45) 58th 68.10, Shirley Willett (Vet 50) 71st 73.15, Amanda Young (Vet 50) 79th 74.58, Jane Cope (Vet 55) 88th 77.57, Malcolm Cope (Vet 65) 89th 77.57 and Kathryn Pinder (Vet 50) 98th 81.52.


Victoria Cass (Vet 35) has been putting in some consistent training and it is beginning to pay off with 2 PBs in a week. Victoria took part in the Market Rasen multi terrain 10K on Sunday 23rd September 2018 and ran an excellent time of 52 min 54 secs taking nearly 2 minutes of her PB time set in 2016.  She ran the Cleethorpes Parkrun on Saturday 29th September 2018 in 24 min 51 secs a PB by 1 min 13 secs finishing 62nd out of 231 finishers.

Evie Brooks (Under 15) took part in the Lincoln Parkrun on Saturday 29th September 2018 finishing a fantastic 35th out of 449 runners in a time of 21 min 10 secs, only 2 seconds off her PB.

ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon and 5K 2018

Half Marathon

5 members of Louth AC competed in the coastal multi-terrain Half Marathon in a tough race on a breezy and warm, when the sun was shining, Sunday morning in the seaside town of Cleethorpes on 16th September 2018. There were 1320 finishers.

First home was Adam Dalton – Senior Men category who finished in 6th place and was a whisker away from a PB in an excellent time of 1 hour 14 mins 54 secs.

Ruth Edison – Female Veteran 45 hoping to run under 1 hour 50 minutes smashed her PB by 7 minutes to finish in a fantastic time of 1 hour 46 mins 58 secs in 322th place.

Clare Koslow – Female Veteran 45 just outside her PB of 5 years ago to finish in 661st under the 2 hour mark in 1 hour 59 mins 21 secs.

Shirley Willett – Female Veteran 50 ran a respectable time of 2 hours 02 mins 47 seconds to finish in 749th place.

Amanda Young – Female Veteran 50 ran a conservative race finishing 915th in 2 hours 10 mins and 17 secs.


Evie Brooks – Under 15 age category had an outstanding race in the flat fast 5K. Not only did Evie achieve a 5K PB by an incredible 46 seconds in 20 mins 22 secs, she was first female home beating off the runner-up, a Veteran 35 – Judith Broadbent of Lincoln Wellington AC 20 mins 39 secs and Senior runner – Nicole Peters City of Hull AC 21 mins 53 secs in 3rd place. Evie finished 17th overall out of 396 finishers.

35th Wolds Dash league series

The 35th Wolds Dash league series, hosted by Louth AC, is held monthly on a Wednesday evening from May to September. Seniors road race distances in metres 7137/11685/11875/10155/7137. Juniors – Under 11s 2210m, U13s 3220m, U15s 4230m and U17s 5240 metres distance on lapped courses on grass at Hubbards Hills. Open to all abilities 266 competitors visited Louth to run in one or more of the scheduled 5 races.

The final league event was held on 5th September with the presentation of prizes for the winners and runners-up (The first 10 positions are recorded with points over the 5 races (4 to count) towards an overall league position and prizes).

Louth AC had 8 Awards – 5 winners and 3 Runners-up awards. Winners: Veteran Women – Ruth Edison, Senior Men – Adam Dalton, Under 17 Boys – Caleb Stephenson, Under 15 Girls – Evie Brooks, Under 9 Girls – Amelie Morton Runners-up Under 15 Girls – Freya Plaskitt, Under 13 Boys – Declan Templeton, Under 11 Boys – Oliver Edwards.

Other Junior Louth AC runners: Adela Mills, Ava Rhodes, Marla Bell, Amy Baxter, Iris George-Jones, Ben Templeton, Louis Whomsley, Oliver Brooks, Joseph Todd, Jake Adams, Max Danby, Arthur Topham, James Greenfield, Sam Parkinson, Bethany Ardern, Kandi Austin, Amelia-Jay Morley, Matilda Mossop, Sophie Henderson, Megan Forman, Charlotte Merry, Bronwen Steer, Lloyd Buck, Hannah Reid and Isabelle Dharmi. 31 junior members and 24 senior members competed for Louth AC – totalling 55 members. Thank you for the support.

Some great individual performances and exciting races throughout the age categories and all runners should be congratulated on their efforts and for making this event such a success. We look forward to 2019 series.

Louth AC juniors have had an excellent Track and Field season and still with the opportunity to compete in 5 more Open events at Hull, Wakefield, Scunthorpe, Boston and Grimsby in September before the end of season.

The last team event in July for the Under 13 and Under 15 juniors saw all 15 Louth AC competitors achieve one or more Personal Bests at the UK Development League lower age group in Cleckheaton and finish 3rd in the league event with some quality individual performances, behind City of York AC and Scunthorpe & District AC.  With 21 top 3 individual placings (4 x first places, 11 x 2nd places and 6 x 3rd places).   The 4 Winners –  Evie Kendrick 75m, Evie Brooks 1500m, Freya Plaskitt 1500m and Matthew Spendlove Javelin. Exciting relays – Under 13 and 15 Girls 4 x 100m relay and Under 15 Girls 4 x 300m.


Outstanding performances of the day in the track events: Matthew Spendlove  U15 Boys 1500m 2nd PB by 11 seconds and Adela Mills Under 13 Girls 800m 2nd PB by 10 seconds.         In the field events: Under 15 Girls Caitlin Miller  Hammer PB by nearly 3 metres and Discus PB by 59 cms.  Under 15 Girls  Matilda Mossop Javelin PB by 4 metres and Shot PB by 82 cms.  Under 13 Boys Redford Bramley  Long Jump PB by 51 cm.
