LOUTH ATHLETIC CLUB

Louth AC members have had a great start to 2018 continuing on from 2017 in 4 events: New Year’s Day Annual Cleethorpes 10K road race, Lincolnshire Cross Country Championships at Anton’s Gowt near Boston on Sunday 7th January 2018, January Cleethorpes AC Winter 5K Prom series on Tuesday 9th January 2018 and Brass Monkey Half Marathon at York on Sunday 14th January 2018.

Lincolnshire County Cross Country Championships – Impressive County Haul!    3 Individuals in 3rd position and 4 teams Runners Up!

29 members travelled to Boston to take part in the County Championships at the popular Equestrian Centre with the familiar water jump obstacle. There were 249 runners from 20 different athletic/running/tri clubs. The weather was cold, with a light breeze and with recent rain the course was particularly muddy in 2 locations that made the going tough for all runners.

Lucas George-Jones, had an outstanding run finishing 3rd in the Under 15 Boys with 18.32 and only 2 seconds off 2nd place.  With a strong back up from 6th Jayden Daniels 18.46, 7th Matthew Spendlove 18.54 the team finished in 2nd place, with only 2 points splitting the 1st 3 teams.  1st Lincoln Wellington AC – 15, 2nd Louth AC – 16 and 3rd Grantham AC – 17 points.  Taren Dhami finished 14th in 21.37.

The other members with a top 3 individual finish was Evie Brooks Under 13 Girls who battled hard at the end of the course to finish 3rd place in 11.50 only 3 seconds off 2nd place and the dedicated Kerry Stainton Veteran 3rd place .

The Under 15 Girls team finished 2nd team behind Lincoln Wellington AC.  8th Hannah Reid 16.07, 9th Isabelle Dhami 16.23 and 13th Freya Plaskitt 17.25.

The Veteran Men’s finished 2nd team behind Lincoln and District Runners in a distance of just over 10K.  7th Denzil Lynch 42.05, 12th Jason Oxby 45.19, 13th Kevin Wallis 45.24.  Other placings 19th Paul Snowden 47.08 and 36th Phil Jackson 54.48.

The veteran Women’s finished 2nd team behind Lincoln Wellington AC.  3rd Kerry Stainton 30.31, 8th Trudy Roberts 31.53 and 9th Betty Gash 32.04.

The Veteran Women’s ‘B’ team finished 6th team.  14th Ruth Edison 34.07, 20th Amanda Daniels 34.51 and 25th Jane Cope 36.21.  Other placings 28th Shirley-Ann Willet 36.54 and 34th Karen Moulding 40.51

Under 11 Boys – 13th James Gunfield in 10.09.  Under 11 Girls 5th Marla Bell 7.40.  Under 13 Boys – 10th Declan Templeton 12.10, Under 15 Girls – 16th Megan Forman 19.02 and 17th Matilda Mossop 19.58.

Under 17 Women – 7th Carlissa Daniels 25.07.  Senior Women 15th Molly Pacey 42.23, Senior Men – 13th Jack Darnell 46.12.

Everyone ran brilliantly – Well Done!

New Year’s Day 10K

6 senior members out of 567 runners took to the streets of Cleethorpes and Humberston on a fast, flat race comprising of 2 small loops and 1 large loop starting near the Cricket Club and finishing opposite the miniature railway station on Kings Road. 3 members came away with a Personal Best!

Adam Dalton (Senior) finished 7th in the race and 7th out of 68 in his own category with a fantastic PB time of 33 min 28 secs.  Den Lynch ran a solid race finishing 41st and 8th out of 53 in the Vet 45 category in 37 min 52 secs.  A PB for Jack Darnell by over a minute in a brilliant time of 38 min 07 finishing 44th and 19th out of 68 in the senior category.  The ever improving Jason Oxby knocked 31 seconds of his PB in a time of 41 min 19 secs and finished 16th out of 53 in the Vet 45 category.  Keith Vickers back to racing again after a few months break ran a controlled race in 46 min 40 secs finishing 176 and 10th out of 32 in the Vet 55 category.  Consistent in her racing Ruth Edison had a good start to the year with 48 min 12 secs finishing 194 and 6th out of 30 in the Vet 45 category.  The final member Amanda Young ran a good race in 55 min 39 secs finishing 374 and 14th out of 27 in the Vet 50 category.

 

Cleethorpes AC Winter 5K Prom

The event is held between November and March each year on the Cleethorpes Promenade.

8 members took part on ideal conditions for racing with 62 runners. The highest placed member was Nick Marsh in 3rd 17.52 Vet 45 closely followed by 5th Jack Darnell 18.08 Senior and 11th Den Lynch 18.32 Vet 45.  16th Jason Oxby 19.35 Vet 45, 19th Andrew Byatt 20.16 Vet 45, 27th Jacob Byatt 22.04 Under 15, 39th Rene Darnell 23.34 Vet 60 and 58th Karen Moulding 27.52 Vet 50.

 

Brass Monkey Half Marathon York

Massive Personal Best for Adam!

Adam Dalton had a fantastic race at the Brass Monkey Half Marathon in York on 14th January 2018.  Not only did he have excellent individual placing 29th of 1486 competitors, 29th male of 940 and 15th male Senior of 155 – he also beat his previous half marathon time by a massive 4 minutes and 22 seconds to 1 hour 14 minutes 33 seconds (74.33)!  A brilliant performance placing Adam in the UK Half Marathon Ranking List 2018 – 35th in all male age groups and 20th Senior male!
