Northern Cross Country Championships & Caythorpe Dash

LOUTH AC youngster Jevon George Jones ran a terrific race to finish in the top five in the under-13 boys event at the Northern Cross Country Championships in Pontefract.

Facing stiff competition from 189 of the north’s top athletes, Jevon ran hard to take fifth place – finishing just 21 seconds behind race winner Joshua Dickinson of City of York AC.

Other runners who competed for Louth AC included Hannah Reid (140 in U13 girls), James Larder (57 in U15 boys), Declan Godfrey (103 in U17 boys), Kerry Stainton (137 senior ladies), Nick Marsh (212 senior men) and Jason Stainton (422 senior men).

This is a massive event attracting the north’s top clubs who raced in perfect conditions for cross country  at the muddy Pontefract Racecourse.

A team of four veteran runners came finished with a silver medal for Louth at last Sunday’s Caythorpe Dash.

The dash is a half-marathon distance off road run open to teams of two men and two women.

Louth AC’s Mick Dean, Debbie Simpson, Kerry Stainton and Kevin Wallis finished second in the team event and Kerry was second woman home.
