It was a battle to the finish line in Louth Athletic Club’s second Wolds Dash race of the summer between Louth AC’s Adam Dalton and Skegness Coaster Ben Evison.

The pair ran hard over the hilly 11,685m course from Hubbards Hills, up to Hallington Peak, down towards Withcall and back via Poke’s Hole and Hallington.

Evison beat Dalton to the line in last month’s race over the shorter distance of 7,137m, but on a warm Wednesday night it was Dalton who took the top spot by a slim margin of 13 seconds.

Third place went to Louth AC’s Paul Jackson 44.04 with fellow Louth runner Kerry Stainton winning the women’s race in 53.42.

Team mate Debbie Simpson was second in 57.34 and Emma Humphries of Gainsborough and Morton Striders third in 57.46.

Congratulations to all 60 runners who completed the challenging course and thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their time to marshal and officiate the event.

There were also races for the juniors over distances ranging from 1,200m to 4,230m around Hubbards Hills.

Race three is on Wednesday 9 July (11,875m), race four on 13 August (10,155m) and race five is on 3 September (7,137m). All races start at 7pm and cost £3 for affiliated adult athletes, £5 unaffiliated and £2 juniors. Register on the night at the Hubbards Hills café.
